Colorectal Surgeons
My name is Chun-Yen Wu and I am a general surgeon with a special interest in upper GI surgery and endoscopies. I grew up in South Africa and completed my basic medical degree (MBChB) at the University of the Free State, South Africa in 2009.
I completed my general surgical training at Bloemfontein academic hospital in 2018 under the mentorships of Professors Renald Barry and Roelf du Toit. At the end of my training I was awarded the Fellowship of the College of Surgeons and I also completed my Masters degree in general surgery. This was then followed by a year of post fellowship training in upper GI surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery in Strasbourg, France. I made the move to New Zealand in 2020 with my family and have a public appointment as a consultant general surgeon.
My special interest includes minimally invasive surgery (keyhole surgery) for gallbladders and hernias, anti-reflux surgery, Gastroscopy and Colonoscopies.

Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my young family (wife and two kids). I also enjoy trail running and am a rugby fanatic.
